I co-founded and led Floresta, a greentech startup competing in the 2020 Hult Prize. The challenge for that year was to build a bold venture for a better planet. My team of 1 PhD, 2 Master’s, and 3 (including me) Bachelor’s students developed an efficient method to make cheap organic fertlizer from
natural materials that small farmers in Brazil have at their disposal. Brazil imports the majority of its fertilizer, and the unsustainable use of it has contributed to the resource depletion of the ground.

Due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were sadly unable to visit our initial target site in Pernambuco, Brazil, and participate in person in the Bogota Regional Finals. As the world moved to home confinement and our team spread from Indonesia to Brazil, we discontinued the project.
